Abstract

While making the Catalogue of Scientific Papers of the Royal! Society of London the author asked each country to cooperate in the compiling. Francisco del Paso y Troncoso was the representative from Mexico and the initiator of the enormous effort that created the Institute. Afterwards, compiling commissions per discipline were created, and norms to classify the bibliography were established and published. La elaboración del Catalogue of Scientific Papers de la Real Sociedad de Londres la llevó a solicitar la cooperación de cada país en la recopilación de su propia bibliografía. Francisco del Paso y Troncoso fue el representante de México y el iniciador del enorme esfuerzo que culminó en la creación del Instituto Bibliográfico Mexicano. Posteriormente se crearon comisiones encargadas de seguir reuniendo las fichas de la literatura científica por disciplina, se establecieron normas para clasificarlas y se publicaron diversas bibliografías.
