Twelve Peruvian Prominents in the Intellectual Activity of Rafael Heliodoro Valle: Correspondence

Abstract

La vida y actividad intelectual del polígrafo hondureño Rafael Heliodoro Valle estuvo marcada por infinidad de correspondencia sustentada con los eruditos más destacados de América Latina y en un elevado porcentaje sin ignorar, aunque en menor grado, la establecida con algunos eminentes españoles, franceses, alemanes, suizos, portugueses y estadounidenses inmersos en el desarrollo cultural de sus naciones. Un aproximado de 36 000 cartas forman parte medular del fondo que lleva su nombre, depositado en la Biblioteca Nacional de México. La sostenida con 30 estudiosos peruanos con quienes tuvo relación epistolar, se extiende de 1921 a 1958. La riqueza plasmada en ella incluye temas de historia, literatura, poesía, bibliografía, hemerografía y aconteceres políticos, así como situaciones personales. A través de sus textos es posible conocer el pensamiento de quienes las generaron, sus afanes, ilusiones, proyectos y producción intelectualThe life and intellectual activity of the Honduran polygraph Rafael Heliodoro Valle was marked by an infinite correspondence held with the most intellectual and outstanding men in Latin America, and, in a less extent, some eminent Spanish, French, German, Swiss, Portuguese and American men, immersed in the cultural development of their own nations. An approximate of 36 000 letters, form the same-named collection, deposited in the Mexican National Library (Biblioteca Nacional de México). One part of this correspondence was held between 30 Peruvian scholars from 1921 to 1958. The value of and within this collection includes history, literature, poetry, bibliography, journals, political daily events, and personal situations, as well. Trough these lines, one is able to access the thinking of those who wrote it, their dreams, hopes, projects and intellectual production.
