Sor Juana´s Friends and Protectors: Today

Abstract

Siendo Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz un personaje del que todavía se escudriña su obra, se depuran sus textos, se registra su iconografía, se levanta el inventario de su biblioteca, hay todavía páginas por aclarar en torno a su vida y obra. El investigador Alejandro González Acosta nos proporciona en su artículo algunos datos referentes al linaje de sus dos más decididos protectores: la condesa de Paredes y el marqués de la Laguna, virreyes de la Nueva España. Asimismo, el autor hace un recorrido por diferentes archivos españoles para seguir las huellas del editor del Segundo volumen de las obras de Sor Juana, don Juan de Orúe. Datos que son de suma utilidad para arrojar luz sobre ciertos pasajes de la relación de Sor Juana con estos personajes.Being Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz a character whose work is still being scrutinized, purified, her iconography still being registered, her library, inventoried, there are still pages to clarify concerning her life and work. The researcher Alejandro González Acosta gives us in his article some information about the lineage of two of Sor Juana"s most decided protectors: the countess of Paredes and the marquis of the Laguna, viceroys of New Spain. The author also takes a trip through different Spanish archives to follow the steps of the editor of the Second Volume of Sor Juana"s works, don Juan de Orúe. This data is very useful to shed light over certain passages of Sor Juana"s relationship with these two characters.
